Supply of Locomotives

On 14 January 2025, the Uganda Railways Corporation issued a Specific Procurement Notice (SPN) for the supply of Ten (10) Brand New Diesel Electric Locomotives and Training of Maintenance & Operation personnel.

Out of the Thirty-Four (34) companies that were issued with bidding documents, four (4) have today Friday, 7 March 2025, at 11:00am as per the call, submitted their bids.

4. Dalian Lambo Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd

The supply of brand-new locomotives is part of the Government of Uganda EAC Meter Gauge Railway Capacity Building Project funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB).

The project also includes procurement of wagons, a multi-purpose water vessel, rehabilitation of station and port infrastructure, procurement of Diesel Multiple Units, automation of level crossings, construction of concrete sleeper lines from Kampala to Kyengera and Portbell, among others.
